Hi, I’m new to Tradovate and to futures trading. Looking for help with this issue. I placed a trade this morning around 10am on Platinum. I watched it for about an hour, then went to school and work. This evening when I checked the platform, around 8pm, my order position looks null? I didn’t close it manually, and I don’t believe that I exceeded any margins or anything. Can anyone explain what’s going on? I’ve attached a screenshot for reference. Thanks!
The futures market close at 5pm (Platinum might be different). At that point all the counters are reset.
Your order was likely closed to higher margin requirements through the close.
Take a look at the orders from the prior day and you likely will see it.
looks like frik’s explanation is spot on the market probably closed and the position was reset due to margin requirements or the market close time checking the order history from the prior day should help confirm this
Doesn’t seem like it was a margin issue. Just didn’t realize that I could not hold positions overnight.
You can hold overnight, but the margin requirements are much, much higher to hold through the close. If you have a much bigger account, it will hold through the close.
