Linux Desktop application

Hello,
I have been exploring the Linux trading environment lately. The desktop version of TradingView runs beautifully on Ubuntu, I love it. I am wondering if Tradovate has the plan of expanding to Linux territory. The downloadable application has advantages over browsers. I hope I can enjoy using it on this most reliable and secure OS - Linux.

Hello dear Tradovate Dev Team,
Is there any news concerning the Tradovate Desktop App support on Linux ?

While waiting this to be available, is there any means to run Tradovate Desktop App on Linux (via Wine for example) ?

Thanks and regards,

Giu

Is there a soul who can shed some light on this question?
Or will this topic end its sad life in the limbo of the internet, lost in the depths of the hard drive of a server hosted on a planet that is no bigger than a grain of sand in a universe that is constantly expanding…

Glad to see the response on this topic.
I have been exploring the trading potential on Linux. A native Linux version of Tradovate would be nice to have, but I don’t think it’s very necessary as I thought before. Since Tradovate is basically a Web based (HTML5?), we can just run it on any Linux supported browsers. There is not much distinction between Windows, Mac or Linux for browsers. Secondly, TradingView has the native Linux desktop application, and Tradovate is one of the supported brokers, we can just trade via TradingView on Linux. $9.99/month connection fee applies, in addition to the market data feeds on the Tradingview side I think.

In my particular case, I came back to Windows and Mac recently, as the color inversion issue can not be resolved. The color inversion between Windows and Mac are consistent. For example, a picture in white/black on Windows appears the same as White/black on Mac. Linux, however, is the opposite. White/black on Linux is showing as Black/white on Windows and Mac. The screenshot taken on Linux will show the un-inverted color on Windows or Mac, even the UI color was inverted on Linux already.

I think a native Linux version of Tradovate could still be a viable option, if the porting cost is manageable. The user base might be small, but it is still a niche. That could be the reason why TradingView have it.

Thanks Quiet_Owl for answering, and sorry for the delay of my feedback.
I totally agree with you, it’s completely possible to satisfy with the web based charts system.

Anyway, what prevent me from using such a solution is that the graphical precision of the candle is not as accurate and smooth as in Trading View (candle borders are thick (don’t know why) and it’s not as easy to use as trading view : Graphical tools organization is less intuitive).

But, Trading View requires a Premium subscription to use sub-minute charts, which Tradovate includes natively.
Therefore I’m a bit annoy to pay for an extra subscription just for that.
I dream for a cleaner and smarter dedicated Tradovate lightweight application that would enable me to avoid paying extra charges.

But, that’s just for a convenience. No need to eat caviar everyday to live in good health

Thanks for the time you took to answer me. That’s really appreciable.

I use Tradovate Web on Linux Mint with fairly good functionality. And I have the Android app for emergency exits if the web feed gets interrupted. Definitely waiting for the trading world to wake up to Linux too. The Trading View native Linux app is flawless.

yeah a linux version would be awesome the stability and performance of a native app on linux would definitely be a big plus hope tradovate considers this
